Welcome to the sometimes confusing maze that is my mind and the things that inspire me, like tropes I enjoy and try to work into my own stories or poems. Remember, inspiration can come from anywhere and everywhere, you just need to open your mind to the world and become a student of it. 

For those who are interested in tropes, I suggest checking out the TVTropes website, it's fun to look around and see what comes up under shows, films, and music artists you enjoy.

- Anti-Villain: a character who lacks several key villainous traits or has heroic personality traits and/or values, but is still ultimately a villain or antagonistic in the story.

- Aerith and Bob: unusual and mundane names exist in the same setting.

- Affably Evil: kindness and/or politeness of an evil or antagonistic character is sincere. 

- Bittersweet Ending: an ending with good and bad news, both to varying degrees. It will make you both laugh and cry.

- Beware the Quite Ones: a quiet character who demonstrates that they are not to be underestimated.

- Beware the Nice Ones: make this usually kind person angry and they'll retaliate, hard.

- Boring, but Practical: not exciting, but it works. 

- Character Tics: behavioral quirks and other idiosyncrasies unique to each character.

- Creepy Blue Eyes: a villainous or anti-heroic character has blue eyes,

- Creepy Monotone: talking without inflection makes you scary. 

- Combat Pragmatist: does whatever possible to win a fight, rules and honor be damned.

- Defiant to the End: even after being captured and defeated, these characters refuse to grovel. 

- Determinator: a character that never gives up and never surrenders on their goal, no matter the circumstances.

- Every Scar has a Story: a badass character's scar is pivotal to their backstory. 

- Exact Words: true to the letter, not the spirit.

- Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: Attractive/Adorable on the outside, evil/scary on the inside. 

- Face Death with Dignity: a doomed character accepts their death with serenity.

- Hidden Villain: the Big Bad's identity is unknown for a great portion of the story.

- Hidden in Plain Sight: hiding by fitting in with the surroundings.

- Knight of Cerebus: this antagonist/villain's presence heralds the work becoming less comedic and more dark and dramatic.

- Manipulative Bastard: someone who's good at manipulating others. 

- Noble Demon: a self-serving villain with a code of honor. 

- No-Nonsense Nemesis: this foe (at least usually) doesn't mess around, crack jokes, or gloat.

- Only Sane Man: the one rational, well-adjusted character in a group of people who are, in a certain situation or just generally, weird.

- Perpetual Frowner: a character who rarely, if ever, smiles.

- Soft-Spoken Sadist: having a villain's voice and/or mannerisms be calm and gentle makes them more unnerving.

- Shifting Voice of Madness: an oddball character that has a weird way of speaking or expressing themselves by a speech pattern, mannerisms, and just their voice overall.

- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: when a moment in a work is unexpectedly realistic compared to the norm for its genre.

- Tranquil Fury: perfectly calm, but seriously (maybe violently) angry. 

- The Dog was the Mastermind: the mastermind is someone who draws enough attention to themselves to establish that they existed, and nothing more. 

-Villain Has a Point: the villain is portrayed as having a legitimate point, though that doesn't excuse what they're doing about it.

- Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: lighthearted media with a dark villain.
